Treatment of dog
We called into get our dogs nail trimmed he is 5 months old. he was unsettled on arrival n the groomer who was a female came out n greeted him but he growled at her. she then came out with a retractable red collar placed it around his troat n lifted him up to take to the groomers table where our dog was trembling n weeing himself she proceed to take the red lead n raise it up onto a hoist that looked like a sewing machine hoist n lifted our dog up n his was struggling to breath n he was trembling n weeing it was upsetting he tried to grip the table n then she took like a wire leash n wrapped it around his waist just in front of his penis in pull it tight so he was again raised off the ground trembling n weeing.. While still attached to the red lead which was still to high. . all this to clip his nails it was TOTALLY NOT CALLED FOR. . I was very upset n left n our pup was very Timid after it n traumatised by it... she should not be a groomer. he previously was at the vet n had his claws trimmed n we had no problems at all. this was when he was 2 months old at the vet.

I am an experienced dog person with qualifications in Dog Behaviour and over 20 years working with dogs with the NZ Police Dogs, the SPCA and Vet . On entering the shop the dog displayed fear biting behaviour.
Everyday normal dog grooming loops were used to hold the dog and place which is standard, in order to trim the dogs nails to avoid being bitten face level. The nail were tried and the Pitt bull mix dog left the shop .

Please note the owner states the pitbull mix was already unsettled on arrival. the dog was placed on the table, how ever the dog nervous and was not treated at all in the manner describe by the owner. The dog was standing and relaxed once the owner was asked to leave and wait in reception. The dog became calm stood up and the nail were clipped with no problems. The owners did not understand the dogs behavoiuor and could have resulted in a nasty bite.
