Gopher NZ mislead / lied about what I was going to be signing up for
Hi,
Where do I start with Gopher NZ. In Aug '14 I created a Gopher NZ free directory listing as their company sounded pretty good by saying they were a google partner & said their online business directory listings work to help promote a customers business & get them found on Google. What a load of BS.
Last year I had had a similar thing with Localist where I paid for a monthly directory listing to help promote my business & get to the top of their listings as they were top google partner. Long story short Localist didn't advertise companies very well & paid listings didn't work but said "oops sorry we have a problem" & this went on for a couple of months. After much calls & not good conversations Localist cancelled my paid listing & cancelled the debt they had put with a collection co they had. After placing a free Gopher NZ ad the ph started ringing a lot. Their salesperson was consistent & got me set me up on their directory listings, saying I would be in the top 95% of their ads. After 3 or 4 calls from Sam Anderson (he no longer is a salesperson there now) I went into detail re my Localist rip off issues in the past with internet based directory listing. I made my point very clear I couldn't afford much but wanted my business found so signed up for 12mths paid directory listing & got 3 mths free Bronze mobile thrown in. I stated money was an issue for me so didn't want the facebook or website thing as I already had these plus done google ad words campaign so would see how this went. I was told my listing would get into top 95% with them & this would help get my business found on google search engines. I had the whole "Donna you have my word" & "I promise we won't be like the past listing companies you have been with". In the end I said yes I wanted to get my business out there so signed up. Gopher NZ signed me up for a 12 month directory listing & threw in a 3 mnth bronze mobile listing for free so these would help promote my business & get me found. After agreeing to sign up VERBALLY (verbal agreement) I received an invoice within no time but never got any form of contract etc or anything that told me what I was getting for my money. Only got the invoice & a general privacy terms & conditions pdf. I also convinced someone I knew to sign up with Gopher NZ as I though they were going to be great. They weren't. They don't advertise your company anywhere & save money by only advertising themselves. I wasn't told that the only way customers find you is by going to their website to find any listings. Gopher don't advertise themselves hardly at all. Google business directory listings in Auckland & you find Gopher NZ on page 6. Loads of other free ad listing companies come up before them. This was misleading false advertising by Gopher & I want my verbal contract cancelled for failing to make me aware of this.

No surprises at all -- Gopher at it again ... scamming hard working small businesses. This site is riddled with gopher complaints.

I would suggest you not pay those creeps and stand your ground, even when they threaten you with legal action or bad debt. If everyone did just that they would think twice about their scum of a business model.

Look at their Alexa rating at alexa.com. They don't get much traffic at all and the general NZ has not even heard of them. They have nothing going for them apart from using trickery and hard sell to get your money....while giving you nothing in return. A class legal action against them should shut them down.
