Member dealings with Consumer Complaints
Consumer Complaints requires your first name, email and location in order to register and use this site. We also record and store user IP addresses. Unless we become obligated by law, your information will never be shared with third parties.
Member IP addresses are recorded each time a member logs on to Consumer Complaints. IP address is your unique online address that identifies your connection route from your computer to the website. IP address can be used to track down your physical location.
Just like many web sites, Consumer Complaints uses cookies to help record member login preferences. Cookies work by storing bits of information from a website onto your browser. It's a standard practice that almost all major websites use.
When a comment is posted under a complaint, the member who submitted the complaint will get an email notification about the new comment. This notification feature cannot be turned off as we believe it's important to let the complainant know of all comments relating to the complaint.
Member dealings with other members
People viewing complaints can click on the user name of the person who submitted the complaint and find more detail on the person. This detail is publicly viewable in order to create a more transparent medium. Below is the list of information accessible by the public.
Your profile contains your first name, region, district, the length of time you've been a member and also the last time you logged in to your Consumer Complaints account. Also revealed is the number of complaints and comments you've posted.
Visitors can also view the list of all the complaints you've submitted and all the comments you've posted. We believe it's critical to make this information publicly accessible in order to establish credibility amongst our users and businesses.
Members can email other members using our online form. The member sending the email will have his/her email address revealed to the member receiving the email so that receiver can respond. You should not email other members if you do not want the receiver to see your email address.
