Complaint #: 23
Will not deliver
In December 2011 I had a card left in my letterbox by the Courier number 437 saying I was not at home. My wife and i are disabled and don't get out much so to find this card knowing we had been home was annoying. When I discovered this card I rang the number on the back from my mobile and the call would not go through (apparently it is to do with switching in your area to the nearest depot, you cant use your cellphone for this.) I rang NZC and they told me that I must have been out otherwise a card would not have been left. I ring Wellington main office and was told basically the same thing. No joy from Head Office in Auckland. This happened again in July 2012, card left, we were at home. Driver gets a smack over the hand with a wet bus ticket and told to leave deliveries to the afternoon driver. But hold on a minute, driver 437 takes any parcels for me from Wellington to Masterton rings the afternoon driver who then has to go to Masterton, pick up the parcel and deliver to me in Featherston.
Mr John Charles, one of the top bananas in Auckland tells me that this is the service I will have to expect from NZC.
It is now taking anything up to 6 days for a parcel to get from Auckland to Featherston where the other couriers deliver overnight. Unfortunately the company I deal with in Auckland deal only with NZC and they have had no luck getting NZC to get their act together.
New Zealand Couriers are NOT reliable.

Had another situation yesterday (Monday 18th February 2013) I ordered some things from a reputable dealer in Auckland on Wednesday 13th February, expecting it "Next Day Delivery." WRONG. Friday I ring the company in Auckland and they tell me it was dispatched same day so should have had it Thursday.... They start a search... Monday I ring the company again they get hold of NZ Couriers... NZC don't know where it is. I get a phone call from NZC to find out if I live at the address where the goods are being sent..... Yes, I have lived here for 18 years and NZC have been delivering to me for the last 10 years (at least).
It turns out that a courier driver no. 437 picks up the parcel, drives right past my house and takes it to Masterton and leaves it at that depot. It is not until I rattle a cage or two that NZC get another courier to pick it up from Masterton and deliver it to my home. This has come about after 437 was told by his boss that he must never deliver to my house because of his past history of leaving cards in my letterbox and not bothering to see if I ma home. About 80 meters from my letterbox to the house and you can drive right up to my back door. Keep clear of NZC if you live in Wairarapa.

That's pretty bad. I read that bad courier service is what gave birth to this site: http://www.consumercomplaints.co.nz/about.php

It was Fastway Couriers in that case.

Looks like these courier issues are not isolated cases. You've also have had a huge number of views so that's good as others become aware of such issues.

How many times and how much frustration I need to experience before the driver from NZC stops lying????

Same old story everyone. Someone's at home whole day, expecting the parcel. No one knocked the door but found a card to call in the post box. Emailed it to NZC to ask, they said the driver attempted to deliver but no one answered at the address.

I wish I could catch them lying on the spot once!!

NZ Couriers:
90% of all items i have shipped within the past 12 months have either been lost, damaged or both. General response from NZC to these issues is "we simply are unsure of where your item/s are at present and we will get back to you" most of the time they do not and any complaint i have raised via email never gets responded to.
