Duty manager bad customer service
Called the warehouse upper hutt and was called a idiot by the duty manager Chris on sunday 26 05 2013 at 7:15pm
I rung the upper hutt store at 7:15pm and a man called Chris answered the phone. I asked Chris if I could please speak to the supervisor on duty. Chris asked me what this was about, however as I have recently (half an hour ago) dealt with the supervisor I preferred to talk directly with her rather than explaining everything to some one else just to talk to the supervisor in the end.

As Chris passed the phone to the supervisor he said load enough for me to hear every word on the phone the following, "there is a idiot on the phone for you"

Unbelievably and with major surprise I asked the supervisor immediatly , excuse me but did that guy just call me a idiot, her immediate response was , "would you like to talk to him again" I asked her the same question again and she then passed the phone back to Chris. I asked Chris did you just call me a idiot and his response was abusive and very arrogant. Chris said to me that he said it because I was rude to him? I immediately asked him where I was rude to him and he said it was the way I asked to speak to the supervisor. My response was regardless if he think I was rude he has no right to treat me as a customer the way he is and more so he has no right to call me a idiot. Our conversation become clearly to a point of upset as I asked Chris what his role was, duty manager was his response. As a duty manager you would know how to treat customers and to set a example as a leader in front of other staff, knowing that the supervisor was right there all the time. I asked Chris if he would apologise to me for calling me a idiot and he refused. During our call not ones did I call Chris any names or did I abuse him in any way as he stated. I said I did not want to talk to him any more and I would like to talk to the supervisor - the actual reason I am calling. Chris then asked me to give him 5 reasons why he should let me talk to the supervisor. My response, "your joking right? why should I have to give you five reasons if you cant even apologise to me." Chris said that he doesn't want to put me on to abuse his staff as I am abusing him, I was utterly surprised by his accusation and was at this stage actually lost for words and more than anything highly disappointed to think that this all is coming from a store duty manager at one of the largest retailers in NZ . I would appreciate a formal apology from Chris as he has no right to call a customer a idiot. I would rather drive 30 minuted to go to Upper hutt lower hutt than go down the road to the upper hutt store after the way Chris spoke to me tonight. I will also take this matter further as I will be calling the store on monday to talk directly to the general manager of the store and more so I will be writing to the leadership team in national office regarding Chris.
