Un-hygienic unsafe filthy Accomodation & Refusal to refund payment-
Hello,
This is in regard to a recent visit to the Chez La Mer Backpackers in Akaroa. I would like a refund for the night I paid for but did not stay due to the establishment being filthy and un-hygienic. I have been trying to get a refund and let someone know of the un hygienic situation there. Even without without COVID 19 this should not be the cleanliness level. But with COVID 19 this is inexcusable and unsafe.

Upon arrival, I found a dirty kitchen, leaves and debris all over the floors and couch of the lower level. The bedroom I was assigned to was dirty on the floor and hair was on each of the three beds. The designated bathroom was filthy, massive clump of hair in the shower, dirty towels and blood around the sink, something splattered on the wall and dirt, hair and debris on the floor. I can put up with things especially when exhausted, but this was beyond unacceptable. There was no one at the facility to discuss this with and it was approaching sunset thus I cancelled my booking with booking.com and left to return to christchurch. not my favorite drive in dark and fog with rain. I have been in contact with booking.com as the backpackers was not returning my emails and the phone line provided to me was not working. I was told by booking.com that Chez La Mer refused to refund that they could have resolved the matter. I have stayed in many backpackers. in no way would i have remained as there was no resolution for that problem at that time.
