Cascades Lakefront Motel Taupo
Complaint #: 394
Racism
I sent an enquiry for accomdation on the 13 July for 15and 16 July. I received an email from Silas at 715am on 15th describing the room and how it would meet our needs which was 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 9.
I called Silas, told him who I was and that I just recieved his email. I asked him if the room was ours and he said he could accommodate us for the night and maybe tomorrow/16 if there was a Cancellation.
I asked him if he wanted me to pay now and he said no. I asked him what time check-in was and then informed him that we would be leaving Gisborne at 9am and would see him at 2pm.
I arrived at the motel at 2,30pm and entered the reception. Silas was clearing the entrance of children's bikes and I told him my name and asked for the family room as discussed in the morning. Silas scrolled through his emails and asked if I was 3 different names until he found my email.
He then told me there had been a mistake. The room was not available for the night.
I asked him.if he was Silas.
I reminded him of the 5 minute call we had this morning and how I asked several times about the availability of the room for my whanau.
I told him of the distance we had traveled based on that conversation.
Silas said sorry the room is not available.
I am Maori with a moko kauai.
